For public interest organizations, US state governments

  · for a US national environmental organization (with a coalition of real estate and business interests): reduce electricity and natural gas use and greenhouse gas emissions through federal tax incentives for more energy efficient buildings       

  ·  for a US Native American rights organization: secure White House, Interior Department, environmental support for restoration and return of 700,000 acres of former reservation lands to a Native American tribe in the Pacific Northwest

  · for California Energy Commission: advice, analysis regarding federal policy affecting California energy transportation issues

  ·  for a coalition of western ranchers and Native American communities, midwest farmers, Appalachian community leaders: lead successful seven-year campaign to enact first federal legislation requiring the US coal industry to safeguard sensitive lands and waters and reclaim mined lands                                                                                                                          

  · for Hopi leaders' Black Mesa Trust: analysis and representation regarding water, energy and economic development issues important to the Hopi people

  · for California Air Resources Board: analysis and advice about fuels/automotive provisions of the 1990 Clean Air Act

  · for community groups in all US coal producing states: legislation extending a fee on current coal production to help pay the cost and reinforce the federal Abandoned Mine Lands program to protect communities and their water supplies from pollution and other damage caused by thousands of abandoned coal mines                                    

  · for all major US environmental organizations: organize and lead campaigns to establish Biscayne National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve; serve as initial (1968) coordinator of Everglades Coalition; in 1994-95 serve Everglades Coalition again as National Chair during development of Everglades water/biointegrity restoration plan                                                    

  · for a coalition of community groups: negotiate with landowner, the Governor of Maryland and local officials to secure public ownership and protection of important Chesapeake Bay wetlands

For US government and international organizations                                                                                                         

  · for Export-Import Bank of the United States: help develop first US Export-Import Bank environmental program        

  · for western hemisphere water resource agencies: help establish InterAmerican Water Resources Network
